Which Cloud Computing Service for Web Hosting?

Although I now have quite a lot of programming experience, for example in web development, I have never hosted my own website before. I would like to change that now, but I am quite a beginner in the field of cloud computing. I’ve looked around at numerous providers such as AWS, Oracle, Azure, etc., but I can’t get along with the almost countless offers. I would therefore ask you for recommendations on providers and providers’ programs, as well as general information on the subject of web hosting via a cloud computing service.

But first something about my project: This is a website for a local kindergarten. So on normal days I expect traffic of around 15 users. Before events, however, the number of users per day could increase to around 70. Most of the website is static, but there will be a sub-page for up-to-date information powered by WordPress, so dynamic. The municipality wants to keep the costs as low as possible, at least for the beginning. The additional question is can you recommend the always free services of cloud computing providers for such a website.

Agree. I tested Azure, but I get lost when facing all possibilities and price calculations. Google and AWS scared me in the door.

There are three VPS vendors that I not have tested, but seems to have a good philosophy. Digital Ocean, Linode and Vultr. But my favorite is [UpCloud](https://upcloud.com) where I have about 7 VPS running. A few of them are $10/month and some are bigger. Simple setup, fast and rock solid.

One thing that really simplifies the admin of a VPS is Webmin. It is a combination of ftp, desktop and monitoring. You can read about how I did it here: https://hosting.go4webdev.org This site is about Golang, but it is about the same using Wordpress.

I have heard of Netlify but have no experience of this beast. Or you can use the [$100 offer from Vultr](https://www.vultr.com/promo/try100/?promo=100in14&utm_medium=syndication&utm_source=carbonads&utm_campaign=november21&utm_content=powerful) to get a smooth start. Note that you can host many sites in one single VPS, which reduces the cost per site.

    • Microsoft Azure and AWS are necks to neck in the race of cloud supremacy. Both offer similar products, services, and costs. However, Google, IBM, and other clouds are getting better each day.

    If I were to choose a cloud provider for my business, it would have to be Azure or AWS. The reason is obvious: both companies are way ahead in the race. You cannot go wrong with either of these.

    If there are some specific tools and services offered by other clouds, you may end up deciding upon alternatives as well. For example, IBM Watson is a unique product used in IBM’s cloud service.

    Most large enterprises use multiple clouds. One of my clients uses AWS for file storage and messaging, Azure for DevOps, database, developer and r programming help tools, and Google’s cloud for documents and emails.

    One size doesn’t fit all. You need to figure out what your needs are, and which cloud fits you the best.
